VIETNAM – Ha Giang
Ha Giang is a mountainous region situated 350kms north of Hanoi. Surrounded by Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang and Lao Cai, it shares a border with China to the North East.
Ha Giang is famous for its postcard landscapes and the scenes of picturesque life which have become famous worldwide: tiered rice fields with mountains in the background as far as the eye can see, an old woman working on her loom, women laden with firewood, etc. In addition to its undisputable aesthetic beauty, Ha Giang is also fascinating for the numerous ethic minorities (Tay, H’mong, Dao, Nung, Cao Lan, Hoa, Lo Lo) living in the region. A good way of meeting these ethnic groups and appreciate Ha Giang’s cultural diversity is to visit the markets of Dong Van and Meo Vac.
The best time to go : From mid-Sept to November and from March to May
