A great way to avoid the traffic in Bangkok is to use the local transportation to discover the city. The tour starts from Tha Thien Pier with a visit to Wat Pho, one of the biggest Reclining Buddhas in Thailand, where the monk’s morning chanting is a ritual. From there, it’s a short walk to the Wat Phra Keo, known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, then the Grand Palace, home of the Kings of Siam of the Chakri Dynasty, originally built by King Rama I. For a bit of adventure in the afternoon, a ride with a Thai tuk-tuk to the Wat Saket to climb the Golden Mountain offers an incredible view over Bangkok. The discovery continues aboard a “Sam Saeb” taxi boat to Jim Thompson’s house, home of the famous founder of Jim Thompson Thai Silk. The last ride is by BTS (Sky Train) or taxi to return to the hotel.
