UNESCO World Heritage Sites Series | CAMBODIA

Cambodia has remarkable pre-Angkorian and Khmer history, and nowhere is this more evident than in its three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Preah Vihear Temple, the Temple Zone of Sambor Prei Kuk, and the Angkor Archaeological Park. Here travelers will find an incredibly rich cultural landscape, and the country’s very first inscribed heritage site, the Angkor Archaeological Park, is a picturesque example of this. It’s undoubtedly one of the most famous heritage sites in the whole of Southeast Asia.

Angkor Archaeological Park

The park is a vast complex of temple sites that reflect the majesty of several capitals of the Khmer Empire that flourished between the 9th and 15th century. As the largest pre-industrial city in the world, now home to incredible temples and architecture that astound the mind, it has become a highlight for visitors to Cambodia and an absolute must-see.

Because the site is so well-known and pqopular with visitors, we want to offer something a little different here so that travelers can leave with especially unique memories. We believe that the best way to experience the wonderful expanse of the complex is either by hiking or cycling, giving travelers the opportunity to explore Siem Reap’s famous temple sites in eco-friendly and more in-depth, slow ways.

Sambor Prei Kuk Temple

Our half-day tour, CAMBODIA – Siem Reap – Angkor Complex – Angkor Thom to Srah Srang by bicycle, extends over an easy 20-kilometer off-road trail that allows travelers to visit some of the park’s main temple sites, such as Angkor Thom and the so-called “Tomb Raider Temple”, Ta Phrom, and ends with a delightful lunch at Srah Srang Baray. Our other cycling tour, CAMBODIA – Siem Reap – Cycling to Discover Pre-Angkorian Temples, covers an easy 15-kilometer trail that meanders through colorful rural villages and takes cyclists to some of the park’s hidden temples that are largely unknown to tourists crowds. It’s a great way for travelers to discover the first sandstone temple mountain constructed in the early great Khmer Empire, and to admire and learn about life in rural Cambodia.

Hiking along the masterpieces of Angkor Archaeological Park

Our hiking tour, CAMBODIA -Siem Reap- Hiking along the masterpieces of the Angkor Archaeological Park, is another active and historically immersive way for travelers to explore the temple sites. The tour takes travelers along jungle paths, through a local village and to some of the park’s most impressive architectural sites, Angkor Thom, Angkor Wat and the Bayon Temple.
Finally, for those looking for a relaxing break after a busy morning of temple visits, our activity, CAMBODIA – Siem Reap – Exclusive lunch in a private house at Srah Srang, offers a tranquil lunchtime escape in a charming Khmer house in a small local village.
