THAILAND – Increase of International Airport Departure Charges from 20 June 2026
Thailand’s Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) has officially announced an increase in the international Passenger Service Charge (PSC), effective for all international departures from 20 June 2026 onward.
The updated airport charge will apply at six major international airports operated by AOT and may result in slightly higher airfare costs for travelers departing Thailand on international flights.
Key information for your travelers
Travel partners are advised to take note of the following key information regarding Thailand’s updated Passenger Service Charge (PSC)
- The international Passenger Service Charge (PSC) will increase from THB 730 to THB 1,120 per person (approximately EUR 28 / USD 35).
- The updated charge applies only to international departing passengers.
- Domestic departure charges remain unchanged at THB 130 per person.
- The Passenger Service Charge is generally included in the airline ticket price, meaning passengers are not expected to make a separate payment at the airport.
- International airfares for departures on or after 20 June 2026 may increase slightly due to the updated airport charges.
Airports Affected by the New Charge
The increase applies to international departures from the following airports:
- Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) – Bangkok
- Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) – Bangkok
- Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX)
- Phuket International Airport (HKT)
- Hat Yai International Airport (HDY)
- Chiang Rai International Airport (CEI)
Why is there an increase in the Airport Charge?
According to Airports of Thailand (AOT), the additional revenue generated from the new passenger service charge will support ongoing airport development projects and operational improvements across its airport network.
The investment is expected to contribute to:
- Terminal expansion projects
- Passenger service enhancements
- Technology and security upgrades
- Improved airport efficiency and operational capacity
- Long-term growth in international travel demand
The adjustment forms part of Thailand’s broader strategy to strengthen its aviation infrastructure and further enhance the passenger experience at the country’s key international gateways.
Our Recommendation
Travel partners are encouraged to consider the updated airport charges when planning future itineraries and airfare quotations for departures from 20 June 2026 onward.
Please also note:
- Tickets already issued before 20 June 2026 are currently not expected to incur additional PSC charges.
- However, additional charges may still apply for ticket reissues, date changes, or other modifications, depending on the airline’s policy and ticket conditions.
- Travel partners are advised to check directly with the respective airlines regarding ticket conditions and possible fare adjustments.
