This challenging cycling trip along the beach road from Hue or Lang Co Lagoon to Danang gives cyclists the chance to not only push themselves to the limit, but also retain a certain tranquility, watching fishermen rowing out to collect their oysters or emptying the fishing nets of last night’s catch.

The fairly moderate terrain and the ride along zigzagging paths sporting stunning views, jungles, waterfalls, and beaches bring cyclists to the summit of the Pass. The Hai Van Pass has been praised by BBC’s Top Gear as the most beautiful coastal mountain road in the world, and rightfully so. Taking a break at the top, their breath will be taken away again by the views at the top of the hill – an amazingly beautiful reward for the tough cycling uphill.

Then, the road continues to Danang, one of Vietnam’s younger and more dynamic cities. The gradient downhill is manageable, and the views are also incredibly breathtaking. After arriving at the Xuan Thieu Beach zone, transportation is provided to hotels in Danang or Hoi An.

You will begin your cycling tour along the road to the beach, on both sides of which lush acacia and twisting mangrove forests provide some shade. Cycle around Lap An Lagoon, where you’ll be able to see the fishermen gather their oysters or empty the fishing nets from the previous night – a little glimpse into the authentic Vietnam.

Keep pedaling up the 496-meter ascent on good quality roads, only made more incredible by stunning views, jungles, waterfalls, and beaches. When you finally reach the top of the Hai Van Pass, you will have conquered the most beautiful coastal mountain road in the world (according to BBC’s Top Gear). Here, take a break and have your breath taken away again by the unbelievable view. In a small cafe at the top of the hill, you can also recharge and enjoy some refreshments. Then, take the road down to Danang, one of the youngest and most dynamic cities in Vietnam. Arriving at Xuan Thieu Beach, you’ll finally travel by car to your hotel.
