Description

This tour is designed as a way of experiencing the Virachey’s Community Forest, an area near the massive Virachey National Park while making direct contact with a local community and the natural environment.
Travelers start the day by traveling for 1 hour from the hotel north towards Ban Lung to reach a pier where a motorized boat will be waiting to take them upstream on the Sanger river to reach the starting point of the hike. A local villager will be waiting to accompany guests, together with their Easia guide, along a trail in the Community forest.
The hike is characterized by a mix of trails crossing rice plantations before entering into the primary jungle of Viracheay National Park, with some easy up and downhill sections heading towards the bamboo forest. Along the trail, guests can learn about the flora in the area, and see first hand the culture, traditions and lifestyle of the local people. The main highlight of the day will be the 40 meter waterfall, where it is possible to savor a local picnic lunch and take a rest while enjoying the natural surroundings. After lunch, the hike will continue back to where the tour started before boarding a local boat on the river and returning to the pier to be met by a private vehicle.

Hiking in Virachey’s Community Forest
Leave your hotel at 07h30 and travel for 1 hour north in the direction of Kachon village. When you arrive there you will board a motorized boat, which will take you upstream on the mighty Sesan river to reach the starting point of your hiking trail. Upon arrival at the edge of the jungle you will meet the local Kachocian ranger who will accompany you, together with your guide.
Along the trail, you can interact with the local villagers and learn about the culture, traditions and lifestyle of the people living in that area. This first part of the hike is flat, crossing some rice fields, before entering into the primary jungle and through a bamboo forest. The trail will be varied with some up and downhill parts with interesting views before ending at a stunning 40 meter high waterfall.
There, near the waterfall, you will enjoy a picnic lunch and can relax surrounded by the peaceful nature. Afterwards, you will continue your hike along a small stream heading back to the starting point. Say farewell to the local ranger and take the boat back downstream while enjoying the views of the Sanger River in the afternoon light. After reaching the pier, travel back to your hotel.

Randonnée dans la forêt communautaire de Virachey

Vous quitterez votre hôtel à 7 h 30 et arriverez au village de Kachon, situé au nord, après une heure de route. Là, vous embarquerez sur un bateau à moteur qui vous fera remonter le courant de la rivière Sésan pour atteindre le point de départ de votre randonnée. Une fois arrivés à l’orée de la jungle, vous rencontrerez un ranger Kachocian local qui se joindra à votre guide pour vous accompagner. Sur le chemin, vous rencontrerez des villageois et en apprendrez davantage sur la culture, les traditions et le mode de vie des habitants de cette région. Pendant la première partie de la randonnée vous marcherez sur du terrain plat et traverserez des rizières avant d’entrer dans la jungle primaire et la forêt de bambous. Le sentier vous fera ensuite passer par des collines qu’il faudra descendre puis remonter, ce qui vous offrira de très beaux points de vue avant de terminer par une impressionnante cascade de 40 mètres de haut.

Là, près de la cascade, vous prendrez votre déjeuner sous forme de pique-nique et pourrez vous détendre au milieu de cette nature paisible. Vous reprendrez ensuite votre randonnée le long d’un petit cours d’eau pour revenir au point de départ. Vous quitterez alors votre ranger local pour reprendre le bateau qui descendra cette fois-ci le courant de la rivière et vous pourrez profiter de la balade et du paysage dans la lumière de l’après-midi. A votre descente du quai, vous regagnerez votre hôtel.

Saldrá de su hotel a las 7:30 y viajará durante una hora hacia el norte, en dirección al pueblo Kachon. Cuando llegue allí, montará a bordo de una lancha motorizada que le llevará aguas arriba por el imponente río Sesan hasta llegar al punto de partida de su excursión. Cuando llegue a la linde de la selva, se encontrará con su guarda local de Kachon, quien le acompañará junto a su guía.

Por el camino, podrá interactuar con los habitantes locales y aprender más sobre la cultura, tradiciones y estilo de vida de la gente que vive en esa zona. La primera parte de la excursión es llana, cruzando algunos campos de arroz, antes de entrar en la selva principal y a través de un bosque de bambú. El camino será variado, con algunas partes ascendentes y descendentes y con interesantes vistas antes de acabar en una impresionante cascada de 40 metros de alto.

Wanderung im Gemeindewald von Virachey

Sie verlassen Ihr Hotel um 7.30 Uhr und reisen eine Stunde lang in Richtung Norden zum Dorf Kachon. Wenn Sie dort ankommen sind, gehen Sie an Bord eines motorisierten Bootes, welches Sie flussaufwärts auf dem mächtigen Fluss Sesan zum Startpunkt Ihres Wanderweges bringt. Bei Ihrer Ankunft am Rande des Dschungels werden Sie die lokalen Kachocian-Ranger treffen, welche Sie zusammen mit Ihrem Reiseleiter begleiten werden.

Während der Wanderung auf dem Pfad können Sie mit den örtlichen Dörflern interagieren und etwas über die Kultur, Traditionen und den Lebensstil der Menschen lernen, die in diesem Gebiet leben. Dieser erste Teil der Wanderung ist flach und Sie durchqueren einige Reisfelder, bevor Sie den Primärdschungel betreten und durch Bambuswald laufen. Der Weg besteht sowohl aus Teilen, bei denen es bergauf geht, als auch aus Bergab-Teilen mit interessanten Aussichten, bis Sie schließlich an einem erstaunlichen 40 Meter hohen Wasserfall ankommen.

Danach setzen Sie Ihre Wandertour entlang eines kleinen Stroms fort und bewegen sich zurück zum Startpunkt. Verabschieden Sie sich vom örtlichen Ranger und fahren Sie mit dem Boot flussabwärts zurück, während Sie den Ausblick auf den Sanger-Fluss im Licht des Nachmittags genießen. Wenn Sie den Pier erreicht haben, reisen Sie zu Ihrem Hotel zurück.
