Description

The former French governor’s grand 1930s residence has been restored and turned into a gorgeous boutique hotel, mixing sleek Art Deco lines and traditional Asian opulence. It’s set in a beautiful, frangipani-scented garden on the banks of the stunning Perfumed River in imperial Vietnam’s ancient capital.

The Art Deco design touches can be seen throughout the hotel. They’re found in the door frames of the reception hall and billiard room, the ceilings and doors of the restaurant, and in the indirect lighting and staircase banisters – all hallmarks of the Art Deco movement. Paris-based interior designer Brigitte Dumont de Chassart scoured design archives for these flourishes, including the design of the high ceilings, terrazzo floors, balconies, and furnishings.

In three connected buildings, the hotel’s 122 guest rooms and suites combine age-old charm and Asian opulence with louvered shutters, hardwood floors, and lofty ceilings. Each room features a private balcony or terrace with views of the river.

There’s even a small but well-stocked library and a lobby boutique that sells stylish clothes, handicrafts, and jewelry. The award-winning Art Deco-inspired La Spa offers diverse treatments, including four-handed massages, cupping, and herbal saunas.

Children of all ages are welcome at this quiet mini-resort, as well. There’s a wealth of activities for kids at the complimentary Kids Club (some activities cost extra) and a small, shallow swimming pool for kids.

• The price is very high and hard to negotiate
• Superior rooms are a bit small
• Deluxe River View room could be noisy when many boats sailing on the river
• Extra bed is roll away 0,9m x 1,9m and just for Deluxe room and Suite room
• Do not use rooms (Deluxe, Superior standard) with a garden view of the Hue University of Science office.
