Day by day description

This challenging 4-day, 3-night module offers hiking lovers a chance to explore Sapa’s region on its less-traveled paths. The itinerary starts in Lao Cai with a transfer to a small village deep in the Muong Hoa Valley. The hiking trails will lead travelers through the rice paddies and villages of almost all the ethnic tribes of the area, which include the Dzao, Dzay, Tay, Xa Pho & H’Mong. Considering the location of the hike, the chances of meeting other travelers are lower than on the trails closer to Sapa. A 2-night stay at a homestay with local hosts will also give travelers a privileged close encounter with the culture and lifestyle of the original inhabitants.

Additional Information

Positive Impact:

This itinerary takes place in Sapa and has a positive impact on the region. Travelers stay in two different homestays of the Thai minority, with money spent directly on dinner at the homestay, lunch in the countryside, etc.). No cars are used during the tour; only walking & trekking. Tourism has helped support the region in terms of infrastructure (particularly for roads) but also to keep the young people moving away from the region by providing job opportunities. While hiking in other regions in Sapa could result in a negative impact, this trekking route is much further in the valley away from the typical tourist trails and does not have any negative impact.
