This 3-day, 2-night itinerary combines visits and activities suitable for all travelers. The program allows nature enthusiasts to immerse themselves in rural villages and scenic Ho Chi Minh Trails by bicycle. Several stops at some famous, accessible caves of the region, such as Phong Nha Cave and Paradise Caves, and a short hike in the Botanical Garden are also part of the trip.

Day 1:  Phong Nha 

After arrival in Phong Nha, you will discover the Phong Nha Ka Bang National Park, a UNESCO Heritage Site known for its multitude of caves. You will travel to the Botanical Garden to learn about the surrounding flora and fauna. After lunch, start cycling through rural villages as you admire the beauty of the natural surroundings before catching the sunset on a hill at the end of the day.

Day 2: Phong Nha cave

You will start by cycling towards the winery village, stopping at a local church on the way, and visiting a local house that makes the best homemade rice wine in the area. You’ll continue cycling to see the impressive Phong Nha cave leaving the village. After that, continue along the Ho Chi Minh Trails to Bong Lai village and stop for a BBQ lunch. In the afternoon, you will explore the indigenous town and experience how the locals live and farm. Grab a cold drink and enjoy the fresh air before cycling back to the hotel.

Day 3:Phong Nha –DMZ – Hue

You will travel to Paradise Cave before leaving Phong Nha and heading to Hue through the infamous Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). You will stop on the way to visit the Vinh Moc tunnel, a strategic site that was the target of endless bombing during the Vietnam War, and then have lunch. After, continue towards Hue, stopping at Hien Luong Bridge before arriving in Hue City in the late afternoon.

Highlights of Phong Nha by bicycle 3D/2N (Night train from Hanoi – Dong Hoi – Phong Nha – Hue)

Day xx: Phong Nha

After you arrive in Phong Nha, you will discover the Phong Nha Ka Bang National Park, a UNESCO Heritage Site known for its many caves. On the way, you will visit the Botanical Garden, where you will hike through the jungle, with explanations about the surrounding flora and fauna.

After lunch and a short break, you will have a quick briefing with your guide before starting your cycling tour to explore the villages and witness the locals’ lives. To admire the peaceful landscapes, hopping on your bike and cycling along the riverside, you will reach some local towns such as Cu Nam and Ha Mon. Take a moment to refresh with cool water before you continue cycling through the Khuong Son and Khuong Ha villages, and then ride back across the river to a hill where you can catch the sunset. Grab a cold drink and enjoy the moment. Depending on your preference, you can continue cycling back to the hotel or meet up with your driver to be transferred back to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day xx: Phong Nha

Today, you will explore the local life and Phong Nha cave. Start by cycling towards the winery village via the village roads and a floating bridge. On route, you will stop to visit a local church central to the villagers’ religious activities. After arriving at the winery village, you will see a local house that makes the best homemade rice wine in the area, have a chance to learn how to make this local spirit, and enjoy tasting the different flavors. Upon leaving the village, you will continue riding to the pier, embark on a local boat, and cruise the beautiful river recognized as one of the world’s cultural heritage sites with unparalleled natural wonder to explore the impressive Phong Nha cave.

After exploring the cave, you will take the boat back to the mainland and continue cycling along the Ho Chi Minh Trail to Bong Lai village, where you will stop for lunch. Enjoy a BBQ lunch with chicken and some local food.

In the afternoon, you will explore the indigenous village and a Wild Eco Farm to experience how locals live and farm. Grab a cold drink, enjoy the fresh air, and take your time to relax before cycling back to the hotel.

Day xx: Phong Nha –DMZ – Hue

Today, you will travel to Paradise Cave, another fantastic cave and the largest in central Vietnam’s Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. Here, the stalactites are more diverse, and depending on your perspective and imagination, each person will see different images in the shapes.

After that, you will travel to Hue through the infamous Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Stop on the way to see one of the famous DMZ sights, the Vinh Moc tunnel, a strategic site that was the target of endless bombing during the Vietnam War. You will descend into this underground village, which was dug by the population who occupied it for two years, to explore a system of three-floor tunnels consisting of small cells, kitchens, toilets, wells, and a hospital where seventeen children were born. Then, you will have lunch at a local restaurant near the sea. Continue traveling to Hue, stopping at Hien Luong Bridge, before arriving in Hue City in the late afternoon.

En chemin, vous vous arrêterez pour visiter une église locale qui est le cœur des activités religieuses des villageois. Une fois arrivé au village viticole, vous visiterez une maison locale qui fabrique le meilleur vin de riz artisanal de la région. Vous aurez l’occasion d’apprendre à fabriquer ce spiritueux local et de déguster les différents arômes. En quittant le village, vous continuerez à rouler jusqu’à l’embarcadère, pour embarquer sur un bateau local et naviguerez sur la magnifique rivière reconnue comme l’un des sites du patrimoine culturel mondial de l’UNESCO, puis explorerez l’impressionnante grotte de Phong Nha.

In seguito vi dirigerete verso Hue attraversando la famigerata Zona Demilitarizzata (DMZ). Durante il tragitto, vi fermerete a vedere uno dei siti famosi della DMZ, il tunnel di Vinh Moc, un luogo strategico che è stato oggetto di incessanti bombardamenti durante la guerra del Vietnam. Im Sommer sollte der Besuch der Höhlen in den frühen Morgen- oder Mittagsstunden erfolgen, um die Massen an vietnamesischen Besuchern zu vermeiden.

Tag xx: Phong Nha
Heute werden Sie das lokale Leben und die Phong Nha Höhle erkunden. Zunächst radeln Sie über die Dorfstraßen und eine schwimmende Brücke in Richtung des Weindorfes. Unterwegs halten Sie an, um eine lokale Kirche zu besuchen, die für die religiösen Aktivitäten der Dorfbewohner von zentraler Bedeutung ist. Im Weindorf angekommen, besuchen Sie ein Haus, in dem der beste hausgemachte Reiswein der Gegend hergestellt wird, und haben die Gelegenheit, die Herstellung dieser lokalen Spirituose zu erlernen und die verschiedenen Geschmacksrichtungen zu probieren. Nachdem Sie das Dorf verlassen haben, fahren Sie weiter zur Anlegestelle, wo Sie auf ein lokales Boot umsteigen und den wunderschönen Fluss, der als Weltkulturerbe anerkannt ist, mit einem unvergleichlichen Naturwunder befahren, um die beeindruckende Phong Nha-Höhle zu erkunden.
Nach der Erkundung der Höhle nehmen Sie das Boot zurück zum Festland und radeln weiter auf dem Ho-Chi-Minh-Pfad bis zum Dorf Bong Lai, wo Sie zum Mittagessen anhalten. Genießen Sie ein BBQ-Mittagessen mit Hühnchen und einheimischen Speisen.
Am Nachmittag erkunden Sie das indigene Dorf und eine Wild Eco Farm, um zu erfahren, wie die Einheimischen leben und wirtschaften. Nehmen Sie ein kühles Getränk zu sich, genießen Sie die frische Luft und entspannen Sie sich, bevor Sie zurück zum Hotel radeln.

Tag xx: Phong Nha –DMZ – Hue
Heute fahren Sie zur Paradieshöhle, einer weiteren fantastischen Höhle und der größten ihrer Art im zentralvietnamesischen Nationalpark Phong Nha Ke Bang. Hier sind die Stalaktiten noch vielfältiger, und je nach Perspektive und Vorstellungskraft sieht jeder andere Bilder in den Formen.
Danach fahren Sie durch die berüchtigte Demilitarisierte Zone (DMZ) nach Hue. Unterwegs halten Sie an einer der berühmten DMZ-Sehenswürdigkeiten, dem Vinh-Moc-Tunnel, einem strategischen Ort, der während des Vietnamkriegs immer wieder Ziel von Bombenangriffen war. Sie werden in dieses unterirdische Dorf hinabsteigen, das von der Bevölkerung gegraben wurde, die es zwei Jahre lang besetzt hielt, um ein System von dreistöckigen Tunneln zu erkunden, das aus kleinen Zellen, Küchen, Toiletten, Brunnen und einem Krankenhaus besteht, in dem siebzehn Kinder geboren wurden. Anschließend essen Sie in einem lokalen Restaurant am Meer zu Mittag. Weiterfahrt nach Hue mit einem Halt an der Hien-Luong-Brücke, bevor Sie am späten Nachmittag in Hue-Stadt ankommen.
