Discover Angkor is a 3-day self-guided cycling module that allows travelers to explore the incredible Angkor Wat Archaeological Park along with the support of a mobile device loaded with detailed digital maps. Travelers have three different itineraries available to cycle at their rhythm, exploring off-the-beaten paths through the forest local villages and offering the opportunity to discover the main highlights of the park as well as hidden temples lost in the dense, mysterious jungle.

Upon arrival, travelers are welcomed by their self-guided local assistant, who will provide the traveler with everything required and answer the questions (if any).

Our assistant will always contact the traveler through the device, and a stand-by vehicle is always on call over the three days to support travelers and to pick them up during or at the end of each day if they are tired or need to stop.

This module is designed for travelers looking to independently explore one of the largest UNESCO archaeological parks in the world at their own pace with complete freedom.

Day 1:  Siem Reap 

Upon arrival in Siem Reap airport, you will meet the driver and transfer to your hotel.

At 17:00 you will meet your self-guided assistant in the hotel lobby, who will provide you with everything required and answer your questions (if any).

On the Roadbook app you will find three different cycling modules listed that you can enjoy during your three-day stay in Siem Reap, along with other information about how to best experience Cambodia and its heritage.

Day 2:  Angkor Complex ‘’Short Tour’’ by cycling

Today you will start your self-guided tour in Siem Reap discovering the Angkor Archaeological Park.

This tour is designed to provide access to the most famous temples in Angkor. Depart your hotel and start your trip by cycling along the riverside, passing through a village and forested area. Arrive at Angkor Thom South Gate and ride along the wall for one of the most charming stretches within the Angkor complex. Afterwards, visit a succession of historical sites located within Angkor Thom, including the Elephant Terrace, Royal Palace, Baphuon and the unique architectural wonder of the Bayon Temple. You will finish your biking exploration by visiting the impressive and beautiful Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, capital of the Khmer empire and now an iconic symbol of Cambodia. After that, cycle back to your hotel.

Day 3: Angkor Complex “Long Tour’’ by cycling

During this cycling tour, you will discover the famous and remote beautiful Angkorian temples. You will reach the different sites by riding your bike on untouched tiny trails, through the wild forest, temples and villages. Leave your hotel in the morning and ride along the river, enter the forest and arrive at Banteay Kdei. Continue then to the majestic Ta Prohm, which is famous for the way the surrounding vegetation has blended into the ruins. From there, you will visit a succession of temples from the 12th-13th centuries, among them the mysterious Preah Khan and a small island temple called Neak Poan. Your visit will end with two temples from the 10th century: East Mebon and Pre Rup. On the way back you will ride your bike through the countryside and see beautiful rice fields before stopping to watch the sunset at Srah Srang.

After the sun has set, a tuk tuk will take you back to your hotel.

Day 4: West Baray and secret temples by cycling

This full-day tour is one of the most amazing cycling experiences available in Cambodia. Depart from Siem Reap in the direction of the temples, and leave the road to take a tiny trail. Once off-road, begin a beautiful ride passing small houses, green fields and herds of water buffalo. Along the way, experience the picturesque countryside and observe local life. The landscapes will vary a lot as you move, from rice fields and forests, to wide open spaces before arriving at West Baray, the largest baray at Angkor, rectangular in shape and measuring approximately 7.8 by 2.1 kilometers. Next, visit a succession of small, secret temples, seldom visited by travelers. Then, ride on until Angkor Thom Gate and ride along the wall for an amazing experience. Observe the sunset at Prasat Chrung in a small tower temple, located at one of the corners of the wall.

After the sun has set, a tuk tuk will take you back to your hotel.

Day 2:  Angkor Complex “Petit tour” à vélo 

Aujourd’hui vous commencerez votre tour non-guidé à la découverte du parc archéologique d’Angkor.

Ce tour a été conçu pour vous donner accès aux temples d’Angkor les plus célèbres. Vous partirez de votre hôtel et commencerez votre journée par longer la rivière à vélo, puis en passant à travers un village et une partie de la forêt. Vous arriverez à la porte Sud d’Angkor Thom, où vous commencerez l’une des balades à vélo les plus charmantes au sein du site d’Angkor. Vous irez ensuite visiter une succession de sites historiques situés au sein d’Angkor Thom, notamment la Terrasse des Éléphants, le palais royal, Baphuon et l’unique merveille architecturale du temple de Bayon. Vous finirez votre exploration à vélo avec la visite de l’impressionnant et magnifique Angkor Wat, l’édifice religieux plus grand au monde, capitale de l’empire Khmer and aujourd’hui symbole iconique du Cambodge. Après cela vous retournerez vers votre hôtel.

Day 3:  Angkor Complex “Grand tour” à vélo 

Pendant ce tour à vélo, vous découvrirez les célèbres mais aussi reculés temples Angkoriens. Vous atteindrez différents sites en vélo via des chemins étroits et peu empruntés, à travers la forêt, les temples et les villages. Vous partirez tôt le matin et longerez la rivière à vélo, entrerez dans la forêt et arriverez à Banteay Kdei. Continuez vers le majestueux temple de Ta Prohm, célèbre pour être entouré d’une végétation dense qui s’est mélangée aux ruines. De là-bas, vous visiterez une succession de temples des XIIe et XIIIe siècles, y compris le mystérieux Preah Khan et un temple situé sur une petite ile et appelé Neak Poan. Votre visite se terminera avec deux temples datant du Xe siècle : le Mebon Est et Pre Rup. Sur le chemin du retour vous roulerez à travers la campagne cambodgienne et verrez de jolies rizières avant de vous arrêter regarder le coucher du soleil à Srah Srang.

Après le coucher du soleil, un tuktuk vous attend pour vous ramener à votre hôtel.

Day 4:  Baray occidental et temples secrets à vélo

Cette journée complète est l’une des meilleures expériences à vélo que vous pouvez avoir au Cambodge.

Partez de Siem Reap dans la direction des temples, et quittez la route pour des chemins plus étroits. Ici commencera une magnifique balade en passant par de petites maisons, des champs verts peuples de buffles. Sur la route vous explorerez la campagne et serez observateurs de la vie locale. Les paysages changent beaucoup, en allant des rizières, via les forêts vers des espaces plus ouverts en arrivant vers le Baray Occidental. C’est le plus large réservoir d’Angkor, de forme rectangulaire et mesurant approximativement 7,8 par 2,1 kilomètres. Ensuite vous visiterez une succession de petits temples secrets, ou vous serez probablement seuls à les visiter. Vous roulerez ensuite jusqu’à la porte d’Angkor Thom, et monterez sur le mur d’enceinte pour une balade incroyable. Vous admirerez finalement le coucher du soleil au temple de Prasat Chrung, situé à l’un des angles du mur, et repartirez ensuite vers Siem Reap.

Après le coucher du soleil, un tuktuk vous attend pour vous ramener à votre hôtel.

Día 2: «Tour corto» en bici por el complejo de Angkor

Este tour está diseñado para ofrecer acceso a los templos más importantes de Angkor.

Dejará su hotel y comenzará su viaje pedaleando a lo largo del río, pasando a través de un poblado y de una zona boscosa hasta llegar a la Puerta Sur de Angkor Thom, donde se preparará para uno de los trayectos con mayor encanto dentro del complejo de Angkor. Después, visitará una sucesión de lugares históricos dentro de Angkor Thom, incluida la Terraza de los Elefantes, el Palacio Real, Baphuon y la maravilla arquitectónica única que es el templo de Bayon.

Dejará su hotel por la mañana y pedaleará a lo largo del río, entrará en el bosque y llegará hasta Banteay Kdei, después el majestuoso Ta Prohm, famoso por la forma en la que la vegetación circundante se ha conquistado las ruinas. Desde allí, visitará una sucesión de templos de los siglos XII y XIII, como el misterioso Preah Khan y un pequeño templo en una isla llamado Neak Poan. Su visita finaliza con dos templos que datan del siglo X: los templos de East Mebon y Pre Rup. En su camino de regreso, montará en bici a través de la región rural y observará los preciosos arrozales antes de detenerse a disfrutar del atardecer en Srah Srang.

Día 4: Baray occidental y templos secretos en bicicleta

Este tour de día completo es una de las experiencias ciclistas más impresionantes de las que puede disfrutar en Camboya.

Salga de Siem Reap en dirección a os templos y abandone la carretera para tomar un pequeño camino. Aquí comienza un precioso viaje pasando por delante de pequeñas casas, verdes campos y horas de búfalos de agua. En el camino, explorará la región rural y observará la vida local.

Los paisajes cambian mucho, de arrozales y bosques a algunos espacios abiertos antes de llegar al Baray Occidental. Este es el baray más grande de Angkor, de forma rectangular y unas medidas aproximadas de 7,8 km por 2,1 km. Su construcción comenzó en el siglo XI.

Posteriormente, visitará una sucesión de pequeños templos secretos, donde posiblemente sea el único que los está visitando. Posteriormente, diríjase hasta la puerta de Angkor Thom y suba por la pared para disfrutar de un viaje alucinante.

2 ° giorno: Siem Reap – Complesso di Angkor, ‘Tour Breve’ in bicicletta

Preparatevi a scoprire una selezione di imperdibili templi del complesso di Angkor. Incominciate l’avventura dal vostro hotel pedalando lungo il corso del fiume, fino ad attraversare un villaggio e un’area forestale. Raggiunto il cancello a sud di Angkor Thom, darete inizio ad una delle più affascinanti pedalate all’interno del sito archeologico. In seguito, visiterete innumerevoli siti di Angkor Thom quali la Terrazza degli Elefanti, il Palazzo Reale, Baphuon ed il capolavoro architetturale costituito dal Bayon. Durante la vostra pedalata scoprirete al contempo remoti e rinomati templi angkoriani, spostandovi in bicicletta lungo stretti e polverosi sentieri attraverso la foresta, i villaggi ed i templi, Incominciate l’avventura dal vostro hotel pedalando lungo il corso del fiume, fino ad inoltrarvi nella foresta alla volta di Banteay Kdei. Raggiungerete poi il maestoso Ta Prohm, un tempio che è stato inghiottito dalla foresta tropicale. Vi attende poi una serie di templi risalenti al XII – XIII secolo, tra i quali il misterioso Preah Khan ed il piccolo tempio isola Neak Poan. Terminerete l’esplorazione con East Mebon e Pre Rup, entrambi eretti nel X secolo. Sulla via del ritorno, attraverserete verdi risaie che ammantano la campagna attorno a Siem Reap e farete un’ultima tappa presso Srah Srang per ammirare il tramonto.

4 ° giorno: Siem Reap – West Baray e templi segreti in bicicletta

Questo tour vi propone una giornata intera in bicicletta alla scoperta dei tesori di Angkor. Da Siem Reap partite alla volta dell’area archeologica, seguendo un sentiero tranquillo che attraversa la campagna. Costeggerete casette tradizionali, campi color smeraldo e pigre mandrie di bufali d’acqua. Cogliete l’opportunità imperdibile per esplorare la campagna ed osservare lo scorrere della vita contadina. Risaie e rigogliose foreste vi accompagneranno fino al West Baray, il più ampio bacino idrico artificiale di Angkor, che misura 7,8 per 2,1 chilometri. Raggiungerete poi una serie di piccoli templi nascosti, per godere indisturbati della mistica atmosfera. Pedalate fino all’ingresso di Angkor Thom, dove potrete percorrere le mura in bicicletta. Terminerete la giornata in bellezza ammirando il tramonto dal piccolo tempio a torre Prasat Chrung, situato ad angolo delle mura. Farete infine ritorno a Siem Reap.

Tag 1:  Siem Reap 

Am späten Nachmittag treffen Sie Ihren Assistenten für die Selbstführung, der Sie mit allem, was Sie benötigen, versorgen wird und Ihnen eine Einführung dazu gibt, wie Sie Ihr selbstgeführtes Abenteuer starten. Folgende Dinge werden Sie erhalten:

Tag 2: Angkor-Komplex, ‘Kurze Tour’ mit dem Fahrrad

Während dieser Radtour werden Sie die berühmten und abgelegenen, schönen Angkor-Tempel erkunden. Indem Sie mit dem Fahrrad auf engen, unberührten Pfaden, durch wilde Wälder, Tempel und Dörfer fahren, erreichen Sie unterschiedliche Sehenswürdigkeiten.

Sie werden Ihr Hotel am Morgen verlassen und entlang des Flusses fahren und schließlich in den Wald, bis Sie Banteay Kdei erreichen. Weiter geht es zum majestätischen Ta Phrom, der berühmt für die ihn überwuchernde Vegetation ist, die eins mit den Ruinen geworden ist. Von dort aus besuchen Sie eine Abfolge von Tempeln aus dem 12. und 13. Jahrhundert, unter ihnen der geheimnisvolle Preah Khan und ein kleiner Inseltempel namens Neak Poan. Tag 4: Westlicher Baray und geheime Tempel mit dem Fahrrad

Diese Ganztagstour ist zweifellos eine der erstaunlichsten Fahrradtouren, die Sie in Kambodscha machen können. Sie starten in Siem Reap, verlassen die Straße, um einen winzigen Pfad zu nehmen, und begeben sich in Richtung der Tempel. Hier beginnt eine wunderschöne Tour entlang kleiner Häuser, grüner Felder und  Wasserbüffelherden. Vielleicht werden Ihre Füße nass, wenn Sie mitten durch einige fließende Bäche fahren. Auf dem Weg können Sie die Landschaft erkunden und heimische Menschen beobachten. Die Landschaften verändern sich während Ihrer Tour ständig: Sie passieren Reisfelder, Wälder und einige weite, offene Flächen, bis Sie schließlich den Westlichen Baray erreichen. Es handelt sich um den größten Baray in Angkor. Er ist rechteckig und misst fast 7,8 mal 2,1 Kilometer.

Danach besuchen Sie nacheinander kleine und geheime Tempel; Sie werden vermutlich der einzige Besucher dort sein. Anschließend fahren Sie zum Angkor-Thom-Tor und begeben sich für eine außergewöhnliche Fahrt auf die Mauer. Schauen Sie sich den Sonnenuntergang beim kleinen Tempelturm Prasat Chrung an, welcher sich in einer der Ecken der Mauern befindet, bevor Sie zurück nach Siem Reap fahren.
