Day by day description

The itinerary begins with a private transfer from either Surat Thani / Khao Lak / Phuket / Krabi to Khao Sok National Park and the Khao Sok Riverside Cottages. Arrival is scheduled for lunch, after which a small overnight bag should be prepared for the exciting adventure of an overnight stay in a hammock in the jungle. Hiking in the heart of the jungle and rainforest, jungle cooking, and sharing moments with the expert guide around the campfire will provide an exciting and memorable experience in nature.

Return to the resort will be in time for lunch and the afternoon can then be spent at leisure relaxing in the bucolic settings along the riverbank. The overnight stay will be at Khao Sok Riverside Cottage.

The third day will be dedicated to the discovery of Cheow Larn Lake, culminating with the unique opportunity to stay overnight on the lake amidst dream-like scenery. The sounds of nature and wildlife on the lake provide a natural wake-up call before guests spend free time enjoying the last moments on the lake: kayaking, swimming or relaxing until lunch and the longtail boat transfer back to the Ratchaprapha dam and then onward transfer to the next destination.

Selling points

  • A tailor-made tour offering a different perspective and discovery of Khao Sok National Park
  • 3 alternative experiences and ways to experience Khao Sok: cottage / camping in the jungle / floating raft
  • The unique experience of a night in a hammock in the jungle
  • Ideal for soft adventurer travelers, but also families or couples looking for adventure
  • An experience close to nature – ideal for nature lovers
  • A true discovery of Khao Sok guided by trained expert local guides

Activities

The program is already quite full but on either of the 2 days, during the afternoon at leisure, guests can enjoy the following optional activities (not included but possible to add in the program)

  • Canoe Tour on Sok River
  • Bamboo rafting
  • Elephant bathing experience
  • Massage

Extensions

  • Additional nights in Khao Sok or in Cheow Larn Lake are always possible

Selling points

  • Requested specifically by Easia Travel, customized by Khao Sok Riverside Cottages for Easia Travel. Somehow we could consider it as a signature. Even though the camping trek in the jungle can be sold to everybody, same as the lake experience

Pros

  • A tailor-made activity (that could cater to adventurous active-leisure people) customized for Easia Travel. Not entirely Easia Signature but close
  • Riverside Cottages is one of the cheapest options in Khao Sok in term of accommodation and experiences
  • The experience of a supplier who is an expert on the National Park and who have years of experience and a strong network: Khao Sok Riverside Cottages is the same group as River Front and River Lodge. They also have strong acquaintances for more active jungle experiences
  • The variety of accommodation experiences will show the capacity of Easia Travel to adapt to different comfort expectations
  • Activities will be on a private basis for the group
  • The possibility to offer an access by Surat, Phuket, Khao Lak, Krabi: ideal to offer different combination choices
  • Khura Buri is 1h15 to Khao Sok, ideal for request to push the nature and disconnection concept to the maximum with Koh Phratong

Cons

  • Clients might not like changing accommodation three times in a row in different locations. But there will be only two check ins: one in Riverside Cottages (before leaving with a small bag for the night in the jungle) and one in the Lake
  • Khao Sok remains seasonal: avoid period July to October if possible: more frequent rain can ruin the hiking experience
  • Nature = bugs, snakes, monkeys – be transparent to avoid any sales mistake
  • Remote location = bad signal, no wi-fi on the lake
  • Charming but rustic accommodation for some guests. Natural material = thin wall, proximity
  • Careful with the accommodation on the lake: the experience on the lake is amazing but imposes some compromise: no hot shower, sometimes no air-con (only fan), thin wall, shared bathroom. Try always to request the Superior Floating Raft
  • Good service but not high-end: hotel is only 2*. Family run properties with sometimes low budget to finance training + remote location and seasonal destination = difficulty to strengthen staff service skills
  • Boat transfer on Cheow Lan Lake increases the cost: it is something guests often forgets. And the simplicity of the floating raft make them not happy to pay expensive for what they get. Be transparent
  • Might not be suitable for elderly and definitely not for high-end customers even with some upgrades
