After you have checked in, you will have the rest of the day to yourself to yourself though our Self-Guided Assistant will contact you and come to visit you at the hotel to welcome you to Thailand and show you on how to use the App.

Feel free to explore Bangkok or just relax and settle in, because plenty of exciting adventures are waiting for you in the coming days!

DAY X – CHINATOWN AND LIFE ON THE CANALS

In the morning we recommend a visit to Bangkok’s Chinatown, one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The self-guided itinerary in the app will take you along some of the most famous highlights, but also hidden alleys. Start your trip by going to the Wat Mangkon MRT station (if you are not sure about the best way to get there, check with the hotel staff). When you arrive at the station, head to Exit 3, this is where the self-guided tour starts.

The tour will take you along remarkable landmarks such as the biggest golden Buddha in the world, the Odeon Circle and the Street of Gold as well as other less known but captivating places. Along the way you will really immerse in the neighborhood and get plenty of background information so that you will truly get to know this amazing part of Bangkok and its history. Besides the highlighted stops we have also included some recommendations for small restaurants and cafes that we think you may like.

Make sure you have finished the walking tour around lunchtime, because at 15:00 your guide will pick you up at your hotel for a boat trip on the khlongs, an absolute must-see when exploring the city that was once referred to as the ‘Venice of the East’. A boat tour on the khlongs in Thonburi, the old Bangkok capital will unveil another one of the many faces of Bangkok. Far away from the skyscrapers and dense traffic jams of the new part of the city, Thonburi reveals a more traditional side of Bangkok with old wooden townhouses, improbable floating kitchens, charming and glittering temples and a more simple way of life. The long-tail boat tour will culminate with a visit to the remarkable Wat Arun, which stands magnificently on the Chao Phraya River.

Distance of the walking: 3,9 kilometers
Duration of the walking: approximately 3 hours, including stops
Elevation: overall flat terrain, less than 20 meters elevation gain
Duration of the khlong tour: Approximately 1,5 hours excluding transfers

Notes: A sun hat and sun cream are recommended on the walking tour.

DAY X – EXPLORE BANGKOK’S GREEN LUNG

Today we invite you on a self-guided cycling tour in Bangkok’s ‘Green Lung’, Bang Krachao. It is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and perfect to explore by bicycle. We put this tour in the morning as it is nice to have lunch at Bang Krachao and the area tends to be a bit more lively. During the gentle cycling tour, you will discover an unexpected and rejuvenating side of Bangkok. As getting to the starting point is quite difficult by public transportation, your driver will meet you at the hotel lobby at XX.XX and take you to the Klong Toei pier. From there you will have to cross the Chao Phraya River and you will have the opportunity to rent a bicycle at the other side of the river.

Get ready to visit an unexpectedly green peninsula that locals have dubbed the ‘Green Lung’ of Bangkok. Cycling through the countryside with skyscrapers in the distant background, you will visit the botanical garden of Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and pass through Bang Krachao’s villages. If your timing is right, you might visit the charming and authentic Talad Nam Pueng floating market, which is held on weekends only. To make the experience complete we have added more short stops and interesting addresses along the route that you may want to visit. A truly great way to escape the daily hustle and bustle of Bangkok and surround yourself with nature.

Transfer back to your hotel on your own arrangement.

In the afternoon and evening you will have free time to further explore some of Bangkok’s highlights. If you need some inspiration, we have highlighted some places and sights in the app that we think you may find interesting.

Activity level: 1

Distance of the cycling: 20 kilometers
Duration of the cycling: approximately 3,5 hours, including stops
Elevation: overall flat terrain, less than 20 meters elevation gain

Notes: sun cream and mosquito repellent are recommended on the cycling tour.

DAY X – DEPARTURE

Depending on your travel plans, you may have some free time to explore more of the sights and attractions that Bangkok has to offer. If you need some inspiration, we have highlighted some places and sights in the app that we think you may find interesting.

Make sure to double check the details for your onward travels and double check all the details and times. If you are continuing your trip by public transportation like train or bus, or if you are taking a flight, make sure to leave on time to avoid being late. Bangkok’s traffic can be slow and unpredictable!
