Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge
Sitting by the bank of the Mekong, Pakbeng Lodge is halfway between the World Heritage town of Luang Prabang, and Huei Xai, the main border crossing between northern Thailand and northern Laos. Both towns are reachable within a day by cruise. The Lodge is an ideal point of departure for walks through the forest or to villages off the tourist roads.
The hotel is composed of two buildings: in the Bungalow closest to the river, the rooms are simply decorated with bamboo furnishings, and each one has a private balcony with stunning views of the Mekong. In the Bungalow located at the top of the hill, the rooms are nicely decorated, still in Lao style but with dark wood. Each room has a balcony and all the amenities.
