I’m Pacharamonaporn Kreuasukhon, the General Manager of Souphattra Heritage Vientiane. I’ve been here for almost a year now.
Hospitality has always been something I’ve felt really connected to, it’s not just about running a hotel, it’s about creating moments that people take with them. What really drew me to this role was the chance to blend that passion with something deeper: cultural preservation.
I love working in places that have a story, and Souphattra Heritage is exactly that a space where Lao elegance and warmth come together. It’s been an exciting journey so far, and I feel lucky to be part of it. Vientiane has this very calm but soulful energy. It’s not flashy, but there’s something really genuine about it. What caught my attention right away was the mix of tradition and subtle modern touches. You can walk past a beautiful old temple in the morning, and then find a cozy café tucked into a quiet lane in the afternoon. There’s a softness to life here, people are warm, the architecture has character, and the pace of things lets you actually slow down and appreciate where you are. It just felt like the right place, personally and professionally.
Souphattra Heritage is really about storytelling. We’re located in what used to be the old Ansara Hotel, and we’ve carefully restored the space so it reflects Lao colonial architecture, lots of wood details, textiles, and local design elements that really make you feel like you’re in Laos, not just anywhere.
But more than the design, it’s the spirit of the place. We see ourselves not just as hosts, but as keepers of culture in a way. Everything—from how we greet our guests to the artwork we choose is about sharing something genuine and meaningful. The hotel isn’t big, which makes it feel more personal, almost like staying in someone’s beautifully kept home.
We’re really lucky with where we are, right in the heart of Vientiane’s old town. It gives our guests the best of both worlds. On the one hand, the hotel itself is calm and peaceful, but just steps away you’re surrounded by the city’s cultural gems and everyday life.
A few of my personal favorites include Wat Ong Teu and Wat Chan Temples, peaceful spots that offer guests a glimpse into Laos’ spiritual traditions. The Mekong Riverside is especially lovely in the evening, perfect for a sunset stroll, with markets, street food, and beautiful river views. The Vientiane Night Market is always vibrant, a great place to pick up handmade textiles, small souvenirs, and soak in the city’s energy. The Patuxay Victory Monument, often referred to as Laos’ Arc de Triomphe, offers incredible views of the city from the top. And finally, That Luang Stupa is truly special, it’s the most sacred monument in Laos, and its golden glow is unforgettable, especially at sunrise or sunset.
I think what makes our location special is how effortless it is, you can spend the day exploring all of this and then return to the hotel and feel like you’ve stepped into a calm, elegant retreat.
The idea came from wanting guests to feel like they were really getting something out of their time here, more than just a nice room or good service. We wanted to offer experiences that felt authentic, and a bit unexpected.
One of the highlights is definitely our Lao cooking class. It’s not just watching someone cook, you’re actually in the kitchen, learning traditional recipes, using local ingredients, and then getting to sit down and eat what you’ve made. It’s fun, it’s hands-on, and people always leave with smiles and stories to tell.
We’re also working on expanding that into more cultural experiences, things that help guests really feel part of the place, even if just for a short time.
I would describe it as “The Oasis Downtown.”
