As of September 1, 2024, Cambodia has introduced a new e-Arrival system for travelers landing at Siem Reap and Phnom Penh airports. While the system aims to streamline the entry process, there may still be a few details to iron out as it continues to develop. However, rest assured that Cambodia’s renowned hospitality and helpfulness will make the transition as smooth as possible for all travelers.
What You Need to Do Before Arriving in Cambodia
To ensure a seamless arrival, all travelers must fill out the e-Arrival form online within 7 days before their arrival. Here are the steps to follow:
- Visit the Official Website: Go to arrival.gov.kh to access the e-Arrival form.
- Complete the Form: You can complete the form online or download the app available on iOS and Android devices.
- Receive Confirmation: Once submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a QR code.
- Save the QR Code: Be sure to screenshot, download, or print the QR code, as it will be required upon arrival.
- Present the QR Code at Immigration: Upon landing, present your QR code to immigration for processing.
To complete the e-Arrival Card, you’ll need the following:
- Flight details
- Hotel name and phone number (mandatory)
Flight and hotel reservation documents are suggested but not required for the e-Arrival process.
At the Airport: What If You Forget?
If you don’t complete the form before arriving in Cambodia, don’t worry. Most Cambodian airports will have tablets available for travelers to fill out the e-Arrival form on-site.
Visa Options
Since early September, the e-Arrival Card process requires travelers to provide visa information. Here are the options available to you:
- Option 1: Purchase your visa directly through the e-Arrival App (Cost: $36).
- Option 2: Obtain an E-Visa through the official website: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/ (Cost: $36).
- Option 3: If you already have a visa issued by an embassy, simply select “Already has a visa” during the e-Arrival Card process.
Our Recommendation: For a hassle-free entry experience, we suggest obtaining your visa in advance using one of the options above.
If you prefer the Visa on Arrival (VOA) option, you can choose “Already has a visa” during the e-Arrival process and proceed to complete the form. Upon landing, you can finalize your visa at the airport counter.
What About Land Borders?
For now, travelers entering Cambodia through land borders will still need to fill out a paper form on-site, as the e-Arrival system has not yet been implemented for these entry points.
Thus, for those arriving by land, the process remains unchanged:
- The e-Arrival Card is still a paper form provided at the border.
- E-Visas ($36) are valid at certain borders (e.g., Poi Pet, Bavet, Cham Yeam, Tropeang Kreal).
- Visas on arrival ($30) are available at the usual border crossings.
