Vietnam QR pre-arrival form is now mandatory for international travelers arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City from April 15, 2026. All passengers must complete this digital form before immigration to speed up entry procedures.
What is the QR Pre-Arrival Form?
The Pre-Arrival Form is a QR-based digital declaration that collects key entry information before travelers meet the immigration officer. Once submitted, a QR code is generated, which may be requested during the arrival process.
Official submission portal: https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn/
This requirement currently applies only at Tan Son Nhat International Airport and is expected to be expanded to other airports in Vietnam as part of ongoing efforts to improve immigration efficiency.
Who Needs to Complete It?
The requirement applies to:
- Foreign passport holders
- Overseas Vietnamese entering Vietnam with a valid visa
How to Submit the Vietnam QR Pre-Arrival Form
Option 1 — Before Departure, can be completed up to 3 days prior to departure – Highly Recommended
Option 2 — Upon Arrival at the Airport
QR codes are available in the immigration area. Travelers can scan and complete the form on-site. However, this option may lead to delays, especially during peak arrival periods.
Steps for both options
1. Access the official portal https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn/
2. Fill in personal and travel details. A few notes below:
- Visa type / Purpose of entry – Not sure which category applies? Check our Vietnam Useful Information page for a full list of visa exemptions.
- Travelers from countries with unilateral visa exemption agreements with Vietnam (UK, France, Germany, etc.) — select Unilateral Exemption
- Travelers from countries with bilateral visa exemption agreements (Thailand, Singapore, etc.) — select Bilateral Exemption
- Travelers entering on an e-visa — select Electronic Visa (E-Visa)
- Visa / Entry permit number
- If selecting Unilateral or Bilateral Exemption, this field can be left blank
- If selecting E-Visa, enter the number only — do not include “/EV” at the end
3. Submit the form
4. Save the QR code (screenshot or offline copy)
Completion typically takes only a few minutes and allows travelers to proceed more directly through immigration.
To help your clients navigate the form with confidence, the Immigration Office has released an official step-by-step demonstration. Watch the walkthrough below before your first submission.

Why Completing It in Advance Matters
Encouraging travelers to complete the form before departure can significantly improve their arrival experience:
- Save time at immigration: Queues can exceed 40 minutes during busy periods
- Avoid additional steps after landing: Completing the form on-site adds an extra step after a long flight
- Reduce stress on arrival: No need to rely on airport Wi-Fi or navigate instructions in a crowded environment
- Minimize risk of delays: Important for airport transfers or connecting flights
Practical Notes for Travel Partners
To ensure smooth operations, it is recommended to:
- Include this requirement in pre-departure documents
- Remind clients to complete the form 1–3 days before travel
- Advise travelers to keep a QR code screenshot accessible offline
QR Pre-Arrival Form introduces an additional step in the entry process at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, but it is designed to improve efficiency at one of Vietnam’s busiest gateways.
With proper preparation, travelers can move through immigration more smoothly and begin their journey without unnecessary delays.
