Competitor comparison

  • It is a community based activity, open for everyone. However, our main competitors do not offer this.
  • The village is sometimes visited by Thai tourists who usually come in very big groups (ex. study groups or students)

Pros

  • Easy to include in a program due to close proximity to the city
  • Good value for money, accessible for families
  • Opportunity to include a local experience very close to the city

Cons

  • Not an Easia Signature activity
  • the final product of the workshop can be taken home, but not really used (no time to fire the pot in the oven)
  • During festivals and some special occasion the activity can be affected (either very quiet or super busy)

Information

  • The activity takes place in Baan Muang Kung, which is just south of the city and easily accessible (link on Google Map)
  • The program is best done in the morning as there is most activity going on during that time
  • Suitable for all ages, even young kids. The locals will help to make some pots
  • The pots that are made during the workshop can be taken home, but can not be used as they are not fired in the oven. They can only be used as decoration pieces/souvenir
  • The activity has 2 main parts: first part is learning about the village and the history while walking through the village, the 2nd part is the workshop

Alerts

  • Travelers will work with clay and water, they may get a little bit dirty. Suitable clothing is advised
  • The pots made during the workshop can be taken home, but they are not really usable as they are not fired in the oven. So they can only be used as souvenir/ decoration. Usually the clay will still be wet, which can be difficult if clients travel onward soon.
  • Big festivals like Songkran, New Year, Loy Krathong may affect the activity, it is not advisable to propose it during these times.
