Description

Ban Manda War Museum is a community-based museum which showcases local life and Lao resilience in the face of prolonged U.S. bombing raids. Visitors to the newly built structure will first be struck by the use of bomb shells and shrapnel in the architecture of the museum itself. The showcase is unique for this region of Laos where information and a history lesson are combined with real pieces from the past that travelers can touch and learn about. The museum has two floors, and one of the most unique features of the garden is a bomb crater as a reminder the region’s troubled past. Behind the museum is a cave where local administrative units hid to govern the area during this time. A walk into the cave shows how local people lived during this time in attempt to spare themselves and their families. Parts of the cave are reconstructed to be representative of life inside, and the information about how it functioned provides insightful information for all who visit this unique cultural site.

Le musée de la guerre de Ban Manda est un musée communautaire qui présente la vie locale et la résistance des Laotiens face aux bombardements américains prolongés. En approchant le bâtiment, vous serez frappé par l’utilisation d’obus de bombes et d’éclats d’obus dans l’architecture du musée lui-même. La vitrine est unique pour cette région du Laos : des informations et une leçon d’histoire sont combinées avec des pièces réelles du passé que l’on peut toucher et sur lesquelles on peut apprendre. Le musée s’étend sur deux étages et l’une des caractéristiques les plus singulières du jardin est un cratère de bombe qui rappelle le passé troublé de la région. Derrière le musée se trouve une grotte où les unités administratives locales se cachaient pour gouverner la région à cette époque. Une promenade dans la grotte vous montrera comment les habitants vivaient à cette époque pour tenter de se protéger et d’épargner leurs familles. Certaines parties de la grotte ont été reconstituées pour représenter la vie à l’intérieur, et les informations sur son fonctionnement vous permettront de mieux comprendre ce site culturel unique.

El museo tiene dos plantas, y una de las características más singulares del jardín es un cráter de bomba como recordatorio del turbulento pasado de la región. Detrás del museo hay una cueva donde se escondían las unidades administrativas locales para gobernar la zona durante esta época. Un paseo por la cueva le mostrará cómo vivían los lugareños durante esa época en un intento de salvarse a sí mismos y a sus familias.
