Driving 14 kilometers north of Vang Vieng’s city center, travelers arrive at the starting point of the hike at a H’mong village called Phathao. The walk passes through lovely green rice fields framed by a backdrop of high mountains, along beautiful paths under the shade of high trees. On the way the walkers have the opportunity to explore Tham Loup (deep cave) and then Tham Hoi cave (the smallest cave nearby), where time will be allowed to take in the beautiful landscape before continuing deeper into the mountain terrain. Finally the group will pass through a small village to the sacred Elephant Cave and Temple where they will make their final visit before crossing the bridge to their awaiting transport.

Caving and Hiking in the Surroundings – PHATHAO

You will travel north of Vang Vieng to the small Hmong village of Ban Phathao, which will be the departure point of your hike. During the walk, you will pass through green rice fields with a stunning backdrop of limestone mountains, walk along paths under the shade of high trees and meet the locals going about their daily activities. Then you will reach the first cave, known as Tham Loup (deep cave) and then Tham Hoi (the smallest cave, nearby). There, take a few minutes to take in the beautiful scenery before continuing to walk through the small village towards the river where you will visit the sacred Elephant cave and temple before crossing the bridge to meet your transfer back to the town.

Vous mettrez cap au nord de Vang Vieng pour atteindre le petit village hmong de Ban Phathao d’où commencera votre randonnée. Vous marcherez entre les rizières sur fond de pitons karstiques impressionnants, le long des magnifiques chemins et à l’ombre des grands arbres ; vous verrez les habitants occupés à leurs activités quotidiennes. Vous arriverez à la première grotte, Tham Loup (une grotte profonde) puis à Tham Hoi (plus petite, à proximité), d’où vous pourrez admirer le magnifique paysage avant de continuer à traverser le petit village vers la rivière où vous visiterez le temple de la grotte de l’éléphant sacré avant de traverser le pont pour répondre à votre transfert de retour vers la ville.

Raggiungerete la prima profonda grotta, conosciuta con il nome di Tham Loup, e successivamente Tham Hoi, un’altra più piccola nelle vicinanze. Una volta arrivati, prendetevi qualche minuto di pausa per ammirare lo splendido scenario prima di continuare il percorso attraverso il piccolo villaggio verso il fiume, dove visiterete la grotta e il tempio dell’elefante sacro prima di attraversare il ponte per il vostro trasferimento in città.

Höhlenerkundung und Wanderung in der Umgebung – PHATHAO

Zu Beginn fahren Sie von Nord-Vang-Vieng zum kleinen Hmong-Dorf Ban Phathao, von wo aus die Wanderung losgeht. Während dieser passieren Sie grüne Reisfelder mit atemberaubenden Kalkbergen im Hintergrund, gehen auf schönen Pfaden im Schatten hoher Bäume und treffen Einheimische, die ihren täglichen Aufgaben nachgehen.
Nach einer Weile erreichen Sie die erste Höhle: Tham Loup (tiefe Höhle) und schließlich Tham Hoi (kleinste Höhle, befindet sich in der Nähe). Nehmen Sie sich dort die Zeit, die wunderschöne Landschaft zu bewundern, bevor Sie die Wanderung durch das kleine Dorf in Richtung des Flusses fortsetzen. Dort werden Sie die heilige Elefantenhöhle und den Tempel besichtigen. Anschließend überqueren Sie eine Brücke, um Ihren Rücktransfer in die Stadt anzutreten.
