You will travel on a moto-taxi to the ‘lost’ ancient town of Hue, nestled on the Northern outskirts of the Citadel, next to the Perfume River. 200 years ago, it was a bustling Central Vietnam trading port, marking the golden age of Hue as an ancient capital. Now, over time, it has changed a lot but still retains many classic and nostalgic features. Upon arrival, you will walk to discover its ancient beauty and tranquility while visiting the communal house, meeting the locals, and discovering traditional crafts, such as mosaic work, blacksmithing, and a pottery kiln used to make the statues of “Ong Tao”. Take a break at a local tea house to enjoy tea or coffee. Keep on your moto-taxi adventure to reach villages of fields of flowers and vegetable gardens, renowned for its nearly 400-year-old tradition of crafting paper flowers. Stop at a local artisan family and have some hands-on crafting experience under the guidance of the host. Move to Sinh village, the cradle of Hue’s 400-year tradition of folklore prints. Meet a local artist who will explain traditional printing techniques and try your hand at creating a print to take home as a beautiful keepsake. You will be back in central Hue at noon.
