You will meet a water-puppet craftsman at his own house, who has, for 7 generations, been keeping up this skilled, northern Vietnamese tradition. Your host will welcome you into his house, explain how he makes water-puppets, and display his skills during a private show. Hidden behind the stage, he will make the water-puppets move in different, mesmerizing rhythms and patterns. At the end of the performance, you will even be able to try and move the water-puppets by yourself!

Today, you will meet a water-puppet craftsman who is the 7^th generation in his family to continue practicing and preserving this unique folk art. In his own house, you’ll not only get to attend a live performance on a miniature stage but also learn about the secret techniques and skills it requires to handle the heavy puppets, the history and cultural characteristics lying behind each story displayed.

At the end of the performance, be in the skin of a water puppeteer for a day and find out why it takes decades to become a master water puppeteer by trying to maneuver the puppets yourself with the instructions and also, test your skillfulness in dressing each wooden puppet in lively colors by painting them from scratch.
