Description

A cultural tour of a charming temple followed by a chance to learn and practice Buddhist meditation with an ex-novice or monk. This activity supports ex-novices and monks who are transitioning from life in the temple, to life on the outside, an often difficult and stressful time. This unique experience takes place at Wat Pha Pai, a charming temple in the UNESCO-protected area. In the Cultural Temple Tour, some of the history and beliefs of Theravada Buddhism will be explained to provide a better understanding of the culture, the religious architecture and the uses of different parts of the temple, as well as to provide an insight into the daily routines of the novices and monks who inhabit these sacred spaces. Afterwards, in the Guided Meditation activity, there will be the possibility of entering the temple to learn about the different types of meditation and the correct way to practice them. The guide will first explain, then demonstrate the techniques, before guiding and peacefully meditating together with the guests. The experience will end with a short chat and advice about how to continue practicing these newly found skills.
