This cave owes its name to a remarkable limestone formation that has the likeness of an elephant and lies on the banks of the Nam Song River. The nearby Tham Hoi cave (Snail Cave) winds its way deep into the mountain and is perfect for floating through on inflatable tubes, exploring its long caverns and beautiful limestone formations. A pool of cool spring water lies at the mouth of Tham Nam (Water Cave) and is the perfect place for a refreshing swim. After a rest and a picnic lunch here, it will be time for a trek to a Hmong village, passing through rice paddies and vegetable gardens on the way. The return to Vang Vieng is by kayak on the Nam Song, passing villages with towering karst limestone mountains as the backdrop.

Esta cueva debe su nombre a una notable formación caliza que tiene la semejanza de un elefante y se encuentra a orillas del río Nam Song. La cercana cueva de Tham Hoi (cueva del caracol) se adentra en la montaña y es perfecta para flotar en tubos hinchables y explorar sus largas cavernas y bellas formaciones calizas. En la boca de Tham Nam (Cueva del Agua) hay un estanque de agua fresca de manantial, el lugar perfecto para disfrutar de un refrescante baño. Tras un descanso y un almuerzo campestre, caminaremos hasta una aldea hmong, pasando por arrozales y huertas. Heute erwartet Sie ein ganztägiges Abenteuer mit leichten, aktiven Freizeitaktivitäten im atemberaubenden Vang Vieng. Sie verlassen Vang Vieng und fahren in Richtung Norden, um Tham Xang (Elefantenhöhle) zu besuchen. Diese Höhle verdankt ihren Namen einer bemerkenswerten Kalksteinformation, die die Form eines Elefanten hat und am Ufer des Nam Song Flusses liegt. Die nahe gelegene Tham-Hoi-Höhle (Schneckenhöhle) schlängelt sich tief in den Berg hinein und eignet sich hervorragend, um mit aufblasbaren Schläuchen durch die langen Höhlen und schönen Kalksteinformationen zu schwimmen. An der Mündung der Tham Nam (Wasserhöhle) befindet sich ein Becken mit kühlem Quellwasser, in dem Sie ein erfrischendes Bad nehmen können.
