Day by day description

Day 1: Discovering the South part of Battambang 

After breakfast, guests will depart straight from the hotel with their bicycles, heading south of Battambang and following the Sangker River. Guests will start cycling around the city, slowly getting out of the center and entering the beautiful, rustic countryside. They will pass by some orange and mango plantations, fishing villages, and even admire some Mosques of the Cham community. Guests also come across rice paddies, where they’ll have the chance to meet the local Cambodians living their daily life. A little before lunchtime, they will arrive at Prasat Banan, an 11th century Angkorian temple situated high on top of a steep hill, overlooking the Sangker River. The 358 steps leading to the top will be a great warm-up for the legs and leave guests amazed at how the ancient Khmer architects and their construction workers got the massive stones that were used for building the temple all the way up the steep hill. After the visit and descent, guests will enjoy a warming and welcome Cambodian lunch at a local restaurant, located at the foot of the hill.

After continuing the second part of the tour and cycling around the area, guests will end the day by arriving at Phnom Sampov, a hill similar to the previously visited Phnom Banan, and an important religious site due to its past history. Also here, a series of steps will lead guests up to the top of the hill, where they will be able to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the local surroundings. To conclude their day, guests will enjoy a drink at one of the food stalls located at the foot of the hill and have the possibility, at nightfall, to see hundreds of bats coming out from the caves of the mountain. Day 2: Discovering the North side of Battambang
Today, guests will explore the northern part of Battambang, starting to cycle in the early morning from the city center, heading towards Ek Phnom. Before reaching their first stop, guests will pass by a traditional area famous for its crafts and delicious food. They will have the chance to observe and learn the different artisan skills of the local people, such as the preparation of sticky rice, smoking dried bananas, rice wine making, custom knife making, and the preparation of the traditional fish paste Prahok. After this visit, guests will continue cycling to reach Ek Phnom, one of the most visited attractions in Battambang, and an 11th century temple built during the Angkorian era with some intact carvings. Continuing on the road, guests will enter the hinterlands of Battambang, riding their bicycle on dirt roads, passing by endless rice fields, and meeting local farmers working on their daily tasks. At the end of the tour, guests will reach Kamping Puoy Reservoir, an artificial lake located between two mountains, where they will enjoy a cold drink and some local food, finally relaxing on comfortable hammocks and admiring the peaceful landscape. Guests will then travel back to Battambang by van.

Jour X: A la découverte du sud de Battambang

Vous quitterez l’hôtel après le petit-déjeuner et conduirez vos vélos vers le sud de Battambang, en suivant la rivière Sangker. A mesure que vous pédalerez, vous laisserez lentement le centre-ville derrière vous pour vous aventurer dans la campagne. Vous passerez devant des plantations d’orangers et de manguiers, des villages de pêcheurs et pourrez même admirer des mosquées de la communauté Cham tout en traversant des rizières et en observant la vie quotidienne des Cambodgiens.
Vous arriverez à Prasat Banan, peu de temps avant le déjeuner. Ce temple d’Angkor datant du XIe siècle se situe au sommet d’une colline escarpée surplombant la rivière Sangker. Vous atteindrez le sommet après avoir gravi les 358 marches mais vous oublierez vite l’effort en observant la beauté des constructions des anciens architectes khmers. Après la descente, vous déjeunerez dans un restaurant local au pied de la colline pour savourer votre repas cambodgien bien mérité!
Vous visiterez les alentours avant d’arriver à Phnom Sampov, un site religieux important avec une grande histoire, niché sur une colline similaire à Phnom Banan. Vous escaladerez une autre série de marches pour accéder au sommet et admirer la vue panoramique à couper le souffle.
Vous terminerez la journée en savourant un verre à l’un des stands de nourriture en bas de la colline et pourrez observer les centaines de chauve-souris qui sortent des grottes de la montagne à la tombée de la nuit.

Vous partirez aujourd’hui à la découverte de la région au nord de Battambang et commencerez le tour de bon matin en quittant le centre-ville en direction d’Ek Phnom. Vous traverserez alors une région connue pour son artisanat traditionnel et ses spécialités culinaires. Vous pourrez observer les techniques de confection artisanale des couteaux ainsi que la préparation de plats tels que le riz gluant, les bananes séchées fumées, du Prahok, la traditionnelle pâte de poisson ou encore la fabrication de l’alcool de riz.
Après la visite vous continuerez le tour à vélo et atteindrez le temple d’Ek Phnom, construit au XIe siècle pendant l’époque d’Angkor qui conserve aujourd’hui encore des sculptures quasi intactes qui en font l’un des lieux les plus visités de Battambang.
Les petits chemins de terre vous conduiront ensuite dans l’arrière-pays de Battambang où vous verrez des rizières à perte de vue en rencontrant des habitants effectuant leurs tâches quotidiennes.
Vous atteindrez finalement le réservoir de Kamping Puoy, un lac artificiel situé entre deux montagnes où vous savourerez une boisson fraîche et de la nourriture locale en vous reposant dans des hamacs confortables et en profitant du paysage paisible.

Después del desayuno, saldrá directamente desde el hotel con su bicicleta y se dirigirá a la parte sur de Battambang, siguiendo el río Sangker. Comenzará a pedalear por la ciudad sin prisa, saliendo del centro y entrando en la preciosa y rústica zona rural. Pasará a través de algunas plantaciones de naranja y mango, pueblos pesqueros e incluso podrá admirar algunas mezquitas de la comunidad Cham, todo esto mientras atraviesa plantaciones de arroz y disfruta de la oportunidad de conocer a algunos camboyanos locales mientras realizan sus actividades diarias.
Un poco antes de la hora del almuerzo, llegará hasta Prasat Banan, un templo angkoriano del siglo XI situado en la cima de una colina que se alza sobre los márgenes del río Sangker. Tendrá la oportunidad de observar y aprender diferentes destrezas artesanales de los locales, como la preparación de arroz pegajoso, bananas secas y ahumadas, la fabricación de vino de arroz, de cuchillos personalizados y la preparación de la pasta de pescado tradicional «Prahok».
Después de su visita, continuará en bici hasta llegar a Ek Phnom, un templo construido en el siglo XI durante la era angkoriana que alberga tallas intactas y constituye una de las atracciones más visitadas de Battambang.
Continuando por la carretera, entrará en la periferia de Battambang y atravesará carreteras de polvo en su bicicleta, pasando por eternos campos de arroz y conociendo a agricultores locales que se dedican a sus actividades diarias.
Al final del tour, llegará hasta la Reserva de Kamping Puoy, un lago artificial ubicado entre dos montañas en el que disfrutará de un refrigerio y de la gastronomía local mientras se relaja en cómodas hamacas y admira el tranquilo paisaje.

Giorno X: Alla scoperta del sud di Battambang

Dopo la prima colazione, partirete direttamente dall’hotel con le vostre biciclette in direzione sud di Battambang, seguendo il fiume Sangker. Inizierete a pedalare per la città uscendo lentamente dal centro ed entrando nella splendida campagna rustica. Passerete accanto a piantagioni di arance e mango, villaggi di pescatori ed ammirerete persino alcune moschee della comunità di Cham, passando per le risaie e incontrando i cambogiani locali che vivono la loro vita quotidiana.
Poco prima dell’ora di pranzo, arriverete a Prasat Banan, un tempio angkoriano costruito nell’XI secolo e situato in cima a una ripida collina che domina il fiume Sangker. I 358 gradini che portano alla cima saranno un grande esercizio di riscaldamento per le gambe e vi lasceranno stupiti di come gli antichi architetti Khmer e i loro operai edili abbiano ottenuto le massicce pietre utilizzate per la costruzione del tempio. Dopo la visita e la vostra discesa, vi godrete un caldo e accogliente pranzo cambogiano in un ristorante locale situato ai piedi della collina.
Dopo aver proseguito la seconda parte del tour e pedalando per l’area, terminerete la giornata arrivando a Phnom Sampov, una collina simile al Phnom Banan, precedentemente visitata, importante sito religioso per la sua storia passata. Anche qui, una serie di scalini vi porteranno in cima alla collina dove potrete godere di una vista panoramica mozzafiato dei dintorni locali.
Per concludere la giornata, potrete gustare un drink in uno delle bancarelle di cibo situate ai piedi della collina e avere la possibilità, al calar della notte, di vedere centinaia di pipistrelli che escono dalle grotte della montagna.

Giorno X: Scoperta del nord di Battambang

Oggi esplorerete la regione settentrionale di Battambang, iniziando a pedalare al mattino presto dal centro della città in direzione di Ek Phnom. Prima di arrivare alla prima destinazione, passerete vicino ad una zona tradizionale famosa per i suoi mestieri e il cibo locale. Avrete la possibilità di osservare e apprendere le diverse abilità artigianali della popolazione locale, come la preparazione del riso colloso, le banane essiccate affumicate, la vinificazione del riso, la produzione di coltelli personalizzati e la preparazione del tradizionale impasto di pesce “Prahok”. Dopo la visita continuerete a pedalare per raggiungere Ek Phnom, un tempio dell’XI secolo costruito durante l’era angkoriana con intagli intatti e una delle attrazioni più visitate di Battambang. Continuando sulla strada, entrerete nell’entroterra di Battambang, in sella alla vostra bicicletta su strade sterrate che attraversano innumerevoli campi di riso incontrando gli agricoltori locali che lavorano nelle loro attività quotidiane. Alla fine del tour arriverete al Kamping Puoy Reservoir, un lago artificiale situato tra due montagne, dove potrete gustare una bevanda fresca e del cibo locale rilassandovi su comode amache e ammirando il paesaggio tranquillo. Rientro a Battambang in furgone.

Tag X: Erkundung des südlichen Teils von Battambang

Nach dem Frühstück fahren Sie direkt vom Hotel mit Ihren Fahrrädern ab in Richtung Battambang, indem Sie dem Sangker-Fluss folgen. Zunächst radeln Sie durch die Stadt und verlassen langsam das Zentrum und gelangen schließlich in die schöne, rustikale Landschaft. Sie werden unterschiedliche Orangen- und Mangoplantagen sowie Fischerdörfer passieren und sogar einige Moscheen der Cham-Gemeinde bestaunen können. Bei all dem durchqueren Sie Reisfelder und haben die Chance, Einheimische Kambodschas bei Ihrem täglichen Leben zu beobachten.
Kurz vor dem Mittagessen kommen Sie in Prasat Banan an, einem im 11. Jahrhundert erbauten angkorianischen Tempel, der sich auf der Spitze eines steilen Hügels befindet und einen Ausblick auf den Sangker-Fluss gewährt. Die 358 Stufen bringen Sie zur Spitze; die Besteigung ist sehr gut geeignet, um Ihre Beine aufzuwärmen. Sie werden erstaunt sein, wie die alten Khmer-Architekten und deren Bauarbeiter die massiven Steine für den Tempelbau dort hinauf befördert haben. Nach Besichtigung des Tempels genießen Sie ein warmes kambodschanisches Mittagessen in einem lokalen Restaurant am Fuße des Hügels.
Nachdem Sie den zweiten Teil Ihrer Tour fortgesetzt und die Gegend mit dem Fahrrad erkundet haben, erreichen Sie am Ende des Tages Phnom Sampov – ein ähnlicher Hügel wie Prasat Banan. Es handelt sich aufgrund ihrer Vorgeschichte um eine bedeutende religiöse Stätte. Auch hier werden Sie Stufen nach oben auf den Hügel bringen, von dem aus Sie eine atemberaubende Aussicht auf die lokale Umgebung haben.
Um den Tag abzuschließen, genießen Sie an einem der Essensstände am Fuße des Hügels ein Getränk und haben die Möglichkeit, bei Einbruch der Dunkelheit Hunderte von Fledermäusen zu sehen, die aus den Höhlen aus den Bergen kommen.

Tag X: Erkundung des nördlichen Teils von Battambang

Sie werden die nördliche Region von Battambang erkunden und starten mit der Radtour am frühen Morgen im Stadtzentrum, wo Sie Richtung Ek  Phnom aufbrechen. Bevor Sie das erste Ziel der Tour erreichen, passieren Sie ein traditionsreiches Gebiet, das bekannt für sein Kunsthandwerk und lokales Essen ist. Sie werden die Chance haben, unterschiedliche handwerkliche Fähigkeiten der Einheimischen zu beobachten und zu lernen, wie etwa die Zubereitung von Klebreis, von geräucherten, getrockneten Bananen oder von Reiswein sowie die maßgeschneiderte Herstellung von Messern und die Zubereitung der traditionellen Fischpaste „Prahok“.
Nach dem Besuch radeln Sie weiter bis nach Ek Phnom, einem Tempel aus dem 11. Jahrhundert, der während der Angkor-Zeit errichtet wurde. Der Tempel besitzt einige intakte Schnitzereien und es handelt sich um eine der am meisten besuchten Attraktionen in Battambang.
Weiter geht es auf der Straße und Sie erreichen das Hinterland von Battambang, wo Sie auf unbefestigten Wegen mit dem Fahrrad  vorbei an endlosen Reisfeldern fahren und auf lokale Bauern treffen, die ihre tägliche Arbeit verrichten.
Am Ende der Tour erreichen Sie das Kamping-Puoy-Reservoir, ein künstlicher See, der zwischen zwei Bergen liegt. Dort können Sie ein kühles Getränk und etwas lokales Essen genießen, während Sie sich auf gemütlichen Hängematten entspannen und die friedliche Landschaft bewundern.
