Several of our team members from the Easia Laos Luang Prabang office recently joined a Community-Based Tourism (CBT) workshop provided by the SUSTOUR project to learn more about CBT and to improve our operating practices and collaboration with the local communities in the destinations where we operate.
The SUSTOUR project supports travel and tourism companies. It helps them improve their sustainability standards and practices to obtain the Travelife sustainability certification, one of the leading sustainability certifications for tourism businesses (Easia Travel Laos received the Travelife Certified status last year).
As part of the Travelife method, the SUSTOUR project developed a standard operating procedure for CBT with tools and best practices for travel companies. The training was offered to travel companies and to some select communities to introduce this standard operating procedure as well as other concepts of CBT that Travelife promotes.
